1940s Black Picture Hat with Pink Flowers & Velvet Ribbon - Girlish 40s Spring Cartwheel Wide Brim - Estate of Hollywood Starlet Gladys Glad

Extraordinary 1940s picture hat from the estate of a Hollywood starlet, this finely woven black straw hat has a wide brim & an exuberant cluster of silk flowers overfilling the front. The dusky pale pink flowers are soft and charming for springtime, with rich fuchsia velvet ribbons in a rather Victorian appeal. Has a glass "bubble" at left front amid the flowers. Originally owned and worn by Gladys Glad.

Lovely inside and out, the flowers are very slightly frayed in a few places as their edges are unfinished, the glass bubble is in place at left but there's another metal shank indicating another bubble was once on the right side, this shank is easily unseen amid the flowers
